Year 10 Soccer Match– Laurelhill (2) vs Ashfield (3)

After a very positive start to the season the Under 14 football team were looking forward to their match against the defending champions, Ashfield Boys School, Belfast.  Laurelhill’s  team was boosted by two new players, Steven Jackson and Nathan Kerr, who recently joined us from Dunmurry High School. Ashfield had a good start, but after some great saves by Aaron McKeown, our boys began to settle, playing some really good football and matching the reigning champions play for play.

New player Nathan Kerr (Nottingham Forrest Youth Academy) played the second half of the match and made an immediate impact, putting Laurelhill in front with some very skilled footwork and a spectacular penalty kick. Both teams were equally matched in extra time with Ashfield just snatching a deciding goal in the closing minutes. Nevertheless this was a stunning performance by the Under 14 boys and one which bodes very well for the future.

  • GCSE Success at Laurelhill

    Thursday, 25 August 2011

The number of pupils being awarded the highest GCSE grades A* to C has risen again in Laurelhill Community College.  It was particularly pleasing to see the number of students achieving A* and A grades in one or more subjects.

  • A Level Success

    Thursday, 18 August 2011

There was a significant rise in pupils leaving the College this year with three or more A Levels.  It was a year of outstanding academic success as many Sixth Form pupils received well-deserved A Level results, which marked the conclusion of two years of instensive teaching and studying.  Many pupils from the College's successful Sixth Form now begin their university education in noted universities across England, Scotland and Northern Ireland.
